Pinnacle Skills holds certification, kit distribution for self-employed barbers

Pinnacle Skills organised a project culmination, certification, and kit distribution programme for the fifth batch of the Self-Employed Barber project on July 25.

DIMAPUR, JULY 25 (MExN): Pinnacle Skills organised a project culmination, certification, and kit distribution programme for the fifth batch of the Self-Employed Barber project under the Government of Nagaland’s Innovative Programme 2023–24. The event was held at the Sematila Training Centre in Dimapur on July 25. 

The project, implemented by Pinnacle Skills, successfully trained 100 candidates from across all districts of Nagaland. A total of 28 candidates from the latest batch were awarded certificates of completion along with professional toolkits to help them start barber shops in their respective villages and sub-divisions. 

Dr Yan Murry, Chief Executive of Pinnacle Skills, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the project’s inception and journey. 
Special guest Savio Visa, Director, Department of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of Nagaland, congratulated the candidates and encouraged them to begin their entrepreneurial journey with a positive mindset. He stressed the importance of humility, customer respect, and skill discipline, noting that the barber profession—though modest—offers strong prospects for sustainable livelihood with minimal investment. 

He also urged the candidates to acquire basic business management skills and continue upgrading their technical and entrepreneurial abilities. Visa thanked the Department of Planning and Transformation for funding the project and commended Pinnacle Skills for its successful implementation.

Gideon Sumi, District Employment Officer, Dimapur, remarked that skill training is a lasting asset that no one can take away. He encouraged trainees to build strong client relationships and work with commitment to ensure steady business growth.

Er Netenba Ajem, Principal of Government Women ITI, Chümoukedima, urged trainees to enrol in advanced courses under the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) to enhance their competencies and expand business opportunities.

Er H Alongse, Joint Director, Department of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, was also present at the occasion. The programme concluded with closing remarks by Jenny Haining Murry, Executive Director – Training & HR, Pinnacle Skills.
