Cancellation of non-functioning cooperative societies to be implemented on ‘war-footing,’ says RCS

Kohima, November 24 (MExN):  A total of Rs. 157.460 lakh outstanding government loans were recovered during the last one year. 

Assistant Register of Cooperative Societies (ARCS) gave the information while giving an overview of the ‘Status on the Recovery of Outstanding Govt. Loans’ during the 10th Review Meeting of the Cooperation Department on November 24. 

Deptuty RCS Imnanukshi  also informed the meeting that a total of 693 audits of cooperative societies were  conducted during the last one year and earning the State exchequer a sum of  Rs  5,64,572.

A press release from the Addl. RCS, Bendangtula Jamir informed that the meeting, presided by Kusa Fithu, Joint Secretary, Cooperation Department, was attended by all districts and sub-divisional officers, with the participation of senior officials from the head office.

In his exhortation, RCS Temjen Longkumer called upon the field officers to play active role in reaching out to the people, and that insincerity and negligence of duty will be severely dealt with, the release said. 

He also announced that cancellation of non-functioning cooperative societies will be implemented on war footing, it informed. 

At the meeting, the districts and sub-divisional officers also reported on the status of audit, recovery of outstanding loans, cancellation of non-functioning cooperative societies, performance of field inspectors, and other issues.

A decision on the disciplinary actions against erring staffs and officials in the district offices was also moderated by Bokato Hesso Deputy RCS.

“The meeting resolved to strictly implement No Work – No Pay against all non performing employees, where a team in the Head office will regularly monitor the performance,” the release said. 

In her concluding remarks, Joint Secretary Fithu accepted the various reports and expressed that there are still rooms for improvement of performance by the field officers and staffs, and exhorted the members to give their best in serving the public. 

She urged the officers to impart thrift and credit habits among the rural masses and create financial literacy, it added.
