Rethink the issue of “aggrieved teachers on humanitarian grounds”

Dimapur, August 23 (MExN): Even as the Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) and the Naga Students Federation have called for termination of all teachers marked for being appointed through dubious means, a statement from a number of individuals today appealed for compassion and humanitarian consideration to the welfare of the affected teachers.
The write-up, appended by names of 11 women, shared concerns particularly with the NMA’s demand for termination of teachers under the SIT probe. “Rethink the issue of “aggrieved teachers on humanitarian grounds”, it stated. The ‘aggrieved teachers’ appealed to the NSF and NMA and other students’ unions to consider other categories of teachers “in a little different way”. Insofar as the genuinely qualified and sincerely serving teachers are considered, the questions need to be asked differently, the article explained.
Firstly, the signatories said, the Cabinet had unambiguously stated that the SIT verification is “inconclusive”.  “As such, the NMA and NSF’s demand to terminate the teachers based on the SIT verification alone is unjustified and uncalled for in the light of the concluded ‘inconclusive report’. We appeal the NSF, NMA and other students’ organizations to put into the purview the report of SVC and DVC verifications as well in order for these learned organizations to be fair, just and broader by including all the reports instead of demanding only the rejected, nullified and inconclusive report of SIT,” the article said.
The article highlighted grievances – “As mothers, we believe, the NMA executives would understand the excruciating pain we endure daily.
For 36 long months we (aggrieved teachers) have not brought home any salary and when children cry for new clothes and our purse is empty; when rice container is almost emptying and we have no money left; when children’s examination come near and we have no money to clear the pending fees; when children are ill and we have no money to go even to medical store, we silently cover our head with blankets, drench our pillows with unstoppable tears almost every night.”
“Apart from that, what else could we do? For we believe in the biblical value of righteous earning for survival instead of resorting to unlawful earnings. Despite indictments from banks/lenders for non payment of debt, eviction from house for non payment of rent, expulsion of children from school for non payment of fees, we have been silently going through these embarrassments and enduring untold miseries hoping that help would come from some corners.”
The ‘aggrieved teachers’  also urged “Naga intellectuals”, NGOs and concerned citizens to study the anomalies of SIT’s verification as published in the local newspapers by the ATAN executives, “which would enlighten us as to why the SIT report is called ‘inconclusive’ and so “cannot be referred, cited or quoted to terminate the aggrieve teachers.”
The teachers have appealed “to the NMA” to rethink the issue of “aggrieved teachers on humanitarian grounds.” The dependents of the teachers have been pushed to the extreme end with no possible road to turn “between the devil and the deep sea”, the note added. “In the desperate hour, such as these, may we make this emotional appeal to the NMA to kindly rethink the issue differently by putting yourself in our place and offer us help in any possible ways you can.”
