Rs 120.21 Cr for flagship AMRUT prog in Nagaland

Rs 120.21 Crores has been allotted for implementation of the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) in Nagaland. 

This covers a total of 27 projects, out of which, four projects have been completed and 23 projects are in progress, informed the Annual Administrative Report 2020-21 of the Urban Development Department. The report was tabled in the just concluded Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA).

The Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) launched in 2015 for a period of five years ending by March 31, 2020 with its objective to provide basic infrastructure to the urban poor.

Kohima and Dimapur are the two mission cities under the scheme.

The report stated that considering the status and nature of the projects undertaken under the scheme, the Ministry had extended the time period for another year i.e. ending March 31, 2021.

The admissible project components are water supply, sewerage & septage management, storm water drainage, urban transport (non- motorized), green spaces and parks.

The report informed that Nagaland State has so far received central assistance amounting to Rs. 33.65 Crores from the Ministry and subsequent state matching share amounting to Rs. 3.72 Crores.

The overall physical progress of the mission projects is approximately 65%, it was added.

The State is also in the process of preparing GIS based master plans for the two mission cities of Kohima and Dimapur.
