The Rengma Selo Zi (RSZ) today organized a motor rally in solidarity with the long-standing aspiration for a Tseminyu district.
The rally was taken out in pursuant to the resolutions adopted during the RSZ executive council meeting held on November 11 at Tseminyu, to implore upon the government to expedite the process for creation of Tseminyu district.
The rally was flagged off at Rengma Sports Association (RSA) Ground, Tseminyu and culminated at K Station.
RSZ President, Kenneth Kath said that the peaceful motor rally was a way of expressing the desire for creation of a separate district for the Rengma people and to implore upon the popular government of the day to expedite the matter.
Later, the RSZ submitted a representation to the Commissioner & Chairman, Committee on District Reorganization, Nagaland through the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tseminyu Sub Division.
The representation stated that successive governments have, in the past, constituted several committees on the same and have submitted multiple findings and recommendations to the then respective governments.
“However, Tseminyu district creation which has been the long standing aspiration of the people remains unfulfilled even after a period of 73 years lapse post the creation of Tseminyu Bench Court in 1948,” stated RSZ President, Kenneth Kath in the representation.
The RSZ expressed hope that the committee would submit its ‘report and recommendation’ within the stipulated one and half month period. It also assured cooperation to the committee for effective and timely action.
“The RSZ has always remained vocal and firm in action on matters which concerns the members whom we have been duly mandated to represent and in furtherance, we implore upon the popular government of the day to expedite the process for creation of Tseminyu District without further ado,” the representation added.
It meanwhile appreciated the committee headed by the Commissioner for their concerted efforts in examining into the proposals related to creation or upgradation of new administrative headquarters, as well as creation of new districts.
