Jalukie, June 5 (MExN): The School Shine 2.0 Project was launched at PM SHRI Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Jalukie Town on May 23, marking a step forward in vocational education for Class 10 and Class 12 students in Nagaland.
According to a DIPR report, the initiative builds on the earlier School Shine programme and aligns with the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with a focus on the electronics sector in vocational education.
The project was launched in the presence of the school leadership, teachers and other stakeholders. During the programme, the school administration welcomed the initiative and highlighted the importance of practical and hands-on learning in preparing students for future careers. It was stated that School Shine 2.0 integrates green energy concepts into vocational education and provides students with opportunities to apply classroom knowledge to real-world situations.
Under the guidance of Vocational Trainer K Vekope Ladu, students are being trained to design and assemble portable solar-powered chargers. Through the project, students gain practical skills in soldering, circuit design, electrical systems and battery management. The training involves the use of components such as 5V solar panels, charger modules, 3.7V lithium-ion batteries, USB boost converters, switch boards and connecting wires.
The project enables students to understand the complete process of harnessing solar energy, storing it in rechargeable batteries and converting it into a standard 5V output capable of charging mobile devices. The hands-on approach is intended to provide students with an end-to-end understanding of renewable energy applications and electronics.
The report stated that the initiative also seeks to encourage innovation, entrepreneurship and self-reliance among students by helping them develop practical solutions and business ideas that could benefit their communities.
School Shine 2.0 is being implemented through the collaboration of AISECT and Samagra Shiksha, with the aim of equipping students with skills relevant to emerging sectors while promoting sustainable technologies and vocational competence.
