Sumi Hoho for withdrawal of “designated camps” in Zbto

Dimapur | August 9 : Asserting that the existence of “designated camps” in Zunheboto district  threatens  the congenial and peaceful environment following the Government of India extending the ceasefire to all the “warring groups,” the Sumi Hoho has strongly urged the authority responsible to remove/withdraw the  camps  within   Zunheboto  district.
This decision was the outcome of the ‘baghi  hoho’  (Sumi public meeting) held on Tuesday in the Town Hall of  Zunheboto attended by all Sumi frontal organizations, ‘hoho’  units and others. Two resolutions were unanimously adopted during the Sumi general public session. In the first resolution urging for withdrawal of ‘designated camps’, the Sumi Hoho reminded that the Sumi-inhabited areas were declared ‘peace zones’ on January 15, 2008 during a public rally and the same was unanimously reiterated and reaffirmed on July 7, 2011 by the Sumi general session.
Further, the Sumi Hoho also decided to keep in abeyance any form of contribution to the Naga political groups. It appreciated all the political groups for signing the Covenant of Reconciliation (CoR) expressing their desire to uphold and adhere to the CoR initiated by the Forum for Naga Reconciliation.
“The Sumo Hoho also shall venture for an amicable parley for its logical conclusion. Hence, contribution in any form shall be kept in abeyance,” read the second resolution which was appended by Sumi Hoho president, H. Hesso and general secretary, Toniho Yepthomi.
Tuesday’s meeting was attended by the frontal organizations of Western Sumi Hoho, Sumi Totimi Hoho Nagaland, Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu, Sumi sub-hohos, GBs, other subordinate bodies of Sumi Hoho and leaders and representatives of all Sumi areas. It may recalled that the issue of taxation was deliberated at length during the Sumi general session held on July 7, 2011 but no resolution in this regard could be adopted owing to diverse views and opinions.
