Tezpur University MSW trainees engage in academic exchange at NEISSR

Chümoukedima, February 17 (MExN): Master of Social Work (MSW) trainees from the Department of Social Work, Tezpur University (TU) Assam, visited the North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), Chümoukedima, on February 16 as part of their rural camp programme.

The visiting delegation was led by Dr Samhita Barooah, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work, Tezpur University. The trainees were received by faculty and students of NEISSR and took part in an interactive academic session with MSW trainees of the institute.

During the interaction, students from both institutions shared fieldwork experiences, discussed community engagement approaches, and deliberated on contemporary issues in social work practice in the Northeast region.

An overview of NEISSR, its academic programmes and fieldwork model was presented by Dr Toli H Kiba, Assistant Professor, NEISSR, along with Dr Fr C P Anto, Principal, NEISSR. The presentation highlighted the institute’s focus on practice-oriented training and community-based engagement.

Both institutions expressed interest in strengthening collaboration through joint academic initiatives, exposure visits, research partnerships and possible student exchange programmes.

The visit concluded with a call to enhance institutional linkages and promote continued cooperation for the advancement of social work education and community practice in the region.
