Mon, February 12 (MExN): The Seminar Committee and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Wangkhao Government College (WGC), Mon organized two-day state level seminar on career counseling, sponsored by Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Sriperumbudur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on February 11 and 12.
The college in a press release stated that in the inaugural function, WGC, Principal, Dr I Wati Imchen delivered the welcome address. Prof Sibnath Deb, Director, RGNIYD, Sriperumbudur in the inaugural address appreciated the relevance of the seminar topic since it has direct implications on developments of the youth.
The resource persons, Phejin Konyak who is a farmer and author spoke on “sustainable rural communities’ agricultural diversification – present condition, scope and benefits.” Chumei Yanlem, District Soil Conservation Officer, Mon & Research Scholar from School of Agricultural Sciences & Rural Development (SASRD), Medziphema, Nagaland University highlighted on importance of “entrepreneurship and skill development: a career beyond the government sector.” Dr CH Manwang Konyak, Department of Water Resource and Research Scholar spoke on “Exploring Higher Studies: Scope & Prospects.” L Samuel Konyak, NCS, Sub-Divisional Officer, Chen spoke on “Competitive Examinations: Strategies and techniques”.
The valedictory session held on February 12 was also attended by Prof Vasanthi Rajendra from the Centre for Training, Orientation and Capacity Building, Chennai, RGNIYD.
The two day seminar was attended by 65 students and 14 faculties.
