Wokha, August 4 (MExN): In preparation for the launch of IMI 5.0 (Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0) on August 7, a meeting was convened at the Deputy Commissioner’s official chamber in Wokha on August 4. The meeting chaired by SDO (C) Tsidi aimed to strategize the upcoming immunization campaign, a DIPR report stated.

During the meeting, Dr Thungchanbeni Patton, DP/DIO Wokha, outlined the comprehensive micro plan and activities scheduled for the three-month-long IMI 5.0 programme. She emphasised that this special immunisation session aims to provide essential immunization services to children under five years of age and pregnant women who may have missed earlier vaccination doses. The overarching goal of the campaign is to achieve 100% vaccination coverage for all target groups.

Dr Patton further revealed that the campaign will span three rounds, commencing in August and concluding in October 2023. Immunization efforts will encompass all blocks within the Wokha district, with a focus on designated sessions and villages. Dr Patton called upon various stakeholders including line departments, civil society organizations, churches, and village councils to collaborate in mobilizing community members and achieving vaccination targets, thus safeguarding children from preventable diseases.

State Nodal Officer for IDPS, Dr Nyanthung Kikon urged all concerned departments and stakeholders to provide full support for the effective execution of the programme. Dr Kikon acknowledged past challenges arising from misinformation and fake news regarding vaccination, stressing that the purpose of immunization is to shield children and pregnant women from preventable diseases. He appealed to everyone to responsibly disseminate accurate information about the benefits of vaccination.

SDO (C) Tsidi encouraged attendees to disseminate awareness about the advantages of vaccination within the community. He also urged support for the successful implementation of the programme, ensuring that no targeted group is left without proper vaccination.
