CII Nagaland’s Industry Connect Programme reaches Phek, Mon

Dimapur, March 14 (MExN): The second phase of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Nagaland Branch’s Industry Connect Programme was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School Pfutsero and Ahngjong Mission School, Mon on March 13.

The programme was conducted in association with the Department of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship on March 13.

In Pfutsero, Executive Director (Acting) of Chakhesang Women Welfare Society (CWWS) and CII Nagaland State Council Member Nezelu Nyekha who was the resource person, emphasized on the need for skill development- hard skill and soft skill and the importance of skills as an asset for the youth to enter the work force at any entrepreneurial business set-up.

She also elucidated on the different technical know-how courses which the youth can get trained on in the Industrial training Institutes while sharing concerns on how the lack of skilled labour in the State has caused opportunity erosion. 

Tekhewetsolu Wezah spoke on the employment scenario under the Nagaland government off-farm sector and the challenges and opportunities that await the youth once they cross certain educational stages. She stressed on tapping resources, talents, creativity, interests and how to generate benefits from these areas.

The release stated that Reka Mero led the programme and also highlighted the concept note of the programme.

Altogether, 157 students participated in the programme besides staff and interns of the Chakhesang Women Welfare Society, it added.

Meanwhile, another session was held at Ahngjong Mission School, Mon, where National Teacher Awardee Nyamto Wangsha briefed the participants about the concept of the programme. He also shared on the different avenues and prospects that the participants can prepare themselves for, in order to become successful entrepreneurs. 

According to the release, Father Sam of Don Bosco School, Mon shared on youth participation in industrial training and self employment and laid emphasis on building self confidence, standing on one’s own feet without dependency. He also said that no business success can come about without risk taking and self confidence in life. 

Headmaster of Model School Mon Raju Mogar advised the students to understand their own potential and work towards success in the future while Headmaster, Eastern School, Mon Durlov Dey shared on the importance of inculcating informal education like Morung teaching and practices. 

Further, Yumah, a trained teacher from the Phillipines motivated the students on dignity of labour practices seen in ASEAN countries while making comparisons with such practices among the Naga youth. Beautician Angip also shared her success story and challenges in her career with the 73 students who participated in the event, the release stated.
