Higher Education & Tribal Affairs minister Temjen Imna Along graced the academic session of the 29th biennial general conference of the Angami Students’ Union (ASU) at Kisama as special guest and debate critic on Saturday.

The highlight of the session was the debate competition on the topic ‘The National Education Policy 2020 will ensure quality education in Nagaland’. Analyzing the competition, Along recommended the participants to study the National Education Policy (NEP) in a more in-depth manner in the future to ensure that there is enough materials to learn about the topic. He said that the education system needs a constructive change and despite deprivations, it is not impossible to implement NEP in Nagaland.

Stressing on the absence of universities in Nagaland, he said that NEP will open a way for a vast network of studies. He added that the ultimate ethos and ideals to make the NEP a success in the State depends on the people. The Minister also raised concern about the complacent nature of the public in the battle against COVID-19 and appealed for collective responsibility in preventing its spread. On the Naga political issue, he encouraged the people to be bold in spirit and in heart. He said that Nagas should not be afraid to speak out the fact.
