Kohima, May 6 (MExN): To prevent non-essential movement of persons entering the containment zone under Kohima district, strict enforcement on the laid restrictions and checking for all travellers at all district entry points have been activated, as per the decision taken by the Kohima District Task Force (DTF) on COVID-19.

In this connection, SDO Civil Sechü Zubza, Tiayanger Jamir on May 6 informed that at the entry point, Peducha check gate under Sechü Zubza, travellers entering Kohima and heading to other districts of Nagaland were made to register their details at the gate.

Even though the Government had declared Kohima Municipal Area and New Capital Complex as containment zone and also imposed night curfew from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am with effect from May 5, he informed that most of the travellers were not aware of it and not adhering to COVID-19 appropriate behaviours like proper wearing of masks, 50 percent occupancy in vehicles etc.

Travellers have been advised not to undertake non-essential travel and they have been requested to cooperate with the guidelines issued by the government in order to break the chain of transmission. The SDO further informed that the government, health care workers and front line workers alone cannot fight the pandemic but it needs a collective effort from all citizens, a DIPR report informed.
