Consultative meeting on RIIN and ILP on March 12
Dimapur, March 4 (MExN): The Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigration (JCPI) has called for a consultative meeting on RIIN and ILP on March 12 at 11:00 am at Conference Hall, Tourist Lodge Dimapur. JCPI Convenor, Atomi Swu and Secretary, Tia Longchar in a press release stated that “time has come for the indigenous people of the state to take a stand on our basic rights and privileges. To achieve this, the Apex Tribal Hohos and civil society organizations need to converge and form consensus on RIIN exercise for our protective laws and provisions in the State.”
Camps for newly enrolled electors under Kohima
Kohima, March 4 (MExN): The DC and District Election Officer, Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie NCS has informed that the Election Commission of India has provided facility for new electors enrolled during Special Summary Revision, 2021 and having unique mobile number for downloading e-EPIC through NVSP/VHA. Accordingly, all the electors enrolled in the electoral roll during November-December 2020 have been informed to download the e-EPIC through nvsp.in Further, camps will be organized on March 5-6 and 12-13 in the offices of Electoral Registration Officer, Kohima, ADC Tseminyu, ADC Chiephobozou, SDO(C) Sechu/Zubza, SDO(C) Jakhama, EAC Kezocha, EAC Botsa and EAC Tsogin to facilitate and assist the newly enrolled electors to download the e-EPIC during office hours. Therefore, all concerned electors have been informed to make use of the camps to download their respective e-EPIC.
Late Khekato V Aye mourned
Dimapur, March 4 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has mourned the demise of Khekato V Aye, Joint Secretary, Sumi Region, who passed away on March 3 after prolong treatment. A condolence message issued by the MIP NSCN (IM) said that late Khekato V Aye enrolled in the National service in 2006 and served for the cause of the Naga national movement in various capacities for 15 years till his last breath. “He rendered and did not lose his dedicated spirit towards his service even during the course of his feeble health,” it stated and added that his dedicated sacrifices and contributions towards the Nation will ever be cherished and treasured in the record of Naga history. The NSCN (IM) conveyed deepest condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed for comfort.
Nagaland to observe women’s day
Kohima, March 4 (MExN): The Nagaland State Commission for Women, Nagaland State Social Welfare Board and State Resource Centre for Women under the Department of Social Welfare will jointly be organizing an International Women’s Day 2021 celebration event under the theme “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a Covid-19 World” on March 8 at The Deck, Hotel Vivor, Kohima. IAS Chief Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, J Alam, will grace the event as the guest of honour.
One arrested with ‘illegal’ weapon in Peren
Peren, March 4 (MExN): Security forces in a joint operation with police apprehended an individual with “illegal” weapon in general area Mhainamtsi, Peren on March 2. According to a press release issue by IGAR (North), “based on a specific input, security forces in a joint operation with state police apprehended an individual and recovered one point 22mm Rifle with Magazine and 36 live rounds of point 22mm live ammunition near Mhainamtsi, Peren District.” The apprehended individual along with recovered items has been handed over to Jalukie Police Station, Peren for further investigation., the AR update added.
Late Visütha Ltu laid to rest
Kohima, March 4 (MExN): The Retired Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Visütha Ltu, NCS passed away on March 2 in Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima. He was 77 years. He survived wife, two sons and three daughters and siblings. According to a DIPR report, Visütha Ltu was the first NCS officer amongst Kidima village. He served as LDA before qualified for Circular Officer (presently EAC) through NPSC. Ltu was the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima with the sudden demise of Reddy, IAS. He served in different capacities like DC in Commissioner, Nagaland Office, Director of Youth Resources and Sports, Rural Development and Commissioner and Secretary in Cooperation. The sendoff service was held on March 3 in his private resident Lower Forest Colony, Kohima. Later, the mortal was taken to his ancestral Kidima village for burial on the same day.
NCSU Peren dist meeting held
Kohima, Mar 4 (MExN): The Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers Union Peren District held an emergency meeting at the residence of K Francis Zeliang at Jalukie Town on March 1. The house discussed the developmental activities which is being carried out in Peren district and appealed all the contractors, both State and Central to complete the works as per scheduled time with desired quality and workmanship, especially the contractors working in the road sector, “so as to let our people prosper at par with fellow beings of other advanced districts.” Meanwhile, the house inducted the following persons under the union- K. Francis Zeliang as Advisor, Isiwangbe Hinglak as Assistant General Secretary and Ada Nsalung and Tingbale Liegise as Executive Members.
