NPCC Vice President Khutovi Sema no more

Dimapur, May 6 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), Vice President, Khutovi Sema, retired Director (Land Resources Development) and former Minister, Nagaland passed away on May 6 at Eden Hospital after a prolonged illness.

Following the demise, various individuals and organizations have expressed condolence.

NLA Speaker: In a condolence note, Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker, NLA said that late Khutovi served the State in various capacities initially as Government servant and retired as Director (LRD) in 2002 thereafter, he became a Member of the Tenth Nagaland Legislative Assembly in 2003 as an Independent candidate and was the Minister for Roads & Bridges making immense contributions to the development of the state.

“He was a humble and soft spoken person whose contributions to the people of the state shall always be remembered. He was 76,” the Speaker said while conveying condolence on behalf of the Members of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly and on his own behalf.

NPCC Minority: The NPCC Minority Department rank and file also paid condolences to the family of Khutovi Sema. “He was a distinguished and charming personality. With his sudden demise, Nagaland has lost very promising leader with clean image and who can understand the masses,” a pres note from Rajesh Kumar Sethi, State Chairman, Minority Department, NPCC stated.

Minister Temjen Along: Nagaland’s Higher Education & Tribal Affairs Minister Temjen Imna Along mourned the sudden demise of Khutovi Aye.

In a condolence message received here, Along stated that Khutovi Aye was a refined gentleman who had an illustrious career. “A humble and generous officer who served and gave his best for the welfare of not only his own people and community, but for the best interest of the Nagas in general: such was Khutovi Aye. He who raised his children in the fear of God; he is the beloved father of Dr Akaiho Aye- onvenor of Medical Cell, BJP Nagaland.”

Along stated that the passing away of Khutovi has left a deep void, “yet, his legacy and his good deeds shall forever be imprinted and cherished in our hearts.”

AIPC Nagaland: The All India Professionals’ Congress (AIPC) Nagaland expressed shock to learn of the demise of Khutovi Sema, Vice-President NPCC and ex-minister.

“He was known for his kind heart, soft spoken and gentle manner in dealing with matters. His selfless contributions towards the party will always be cherished and remembered,” Pretso Therie, President, AIPC Nagaland said. It also paid respect and condolences to the bereaved family.

Ex-PAN: The Ex-Parliamentarian’s Association of Nagaland (PAN) has expressed pain on the demise of Khutovi Aye.

A press note from Joshua Sumi, President, Ex-PAN stated that Khutovi did well as a technocrat politician and brought about many vibrant innovative ideas in development for the next generations. His death is not only a loss to his family members but also a loss to the Naga people. “At this moment of grief, it is our prayer that the Almighty God gives solace and comfort to the bereaved family members. May the Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace,” it added.

NSCN (R) Vice President: The NSCN (R), Vice President, Akato Chophi expressed sorrow at the unfortunate demise of late Khutovi and stated that he was “a broad minded frontrunner, a torchbearer and a pioneer in many fields, and leaves his footprints as an excellent bureaucrat, a staunch politician and a charismatic statesman.”

“In his demise, I have lost a very good brother-in-law, a loving uncle and a daring compatriot with whom I shared a solemn and mutual respect and love,” he stated while conveying condolence to the bereaved family.

Minister Kaito: Minister for Agriculture and Cooperation G Kaito Aye expressing his condolences tweeted “extremely saddened to hear of the demise of Sh. Khutovi Sema, Ex Minister Nagaland and V.P. NPCC.  A tall leader, a visionary and an admired personality. His passing is an irreparable loss for all the Nagas. My deepest condolences and prayers to the bereaved family. Rest in peace.”

SRSU: The Sürühuto Range Students' Union (SRSU) said it is sadden to hear of the sudden demise of Khutovi Sema. The Union acknowledged and appreciated his selfless dedication and valuable service that he has rendered in uplifting his 33 A/C in particular and Nagas in general. He was known for his dynamic leadership, humbleness and generosity, SRSU said while extending its deep condolence message to bereaved family members.

CM: Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio also tweeted “the demise of Shri Khutovi Aye is a loss for the people of Nagaland. He was former Minister & Retd. Director of Land Resources Dept. His contribution for the growth and welfare of Nagaland will always be remembered. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family. May his soul RIP.”
