Kohima, September 25 (MExN): The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) conducted skill development training on plumbing and fittings for the Water and Sanitation Committee (WATSAN), Implementing Support Agency, Field Testing Kit (FTK) users and Swachhagrahis of Tseminyu district to empower and equip them on the operation and maintenance of the water supply scheme at the rural areas on their own. The training was held at Tseminyu PHED Store on September 25, stated a press release.
District Coordinator, PHED, Kohima Rural Division talked about role and responsibilities of Swachhagrahis and FTK users while District Chemist Dziesetseinuo Kiso apprised the participants to register themselves into the portal.
IEC Consultant, PHED Kohima division, Vibou Seyie talked about water and excreta related diseases. The programme was organized by PHED, Kohima Rural Division and sponsored Sanitation &WSSO, Nagaland, Kohima. Vote of thanks was delivered by WASH Consultant, Sanitation and Hygiene, PHED Rural, Kohima Division, Virhelie Kruneilie.

PHED observed Swachhta Hi Seva campaign (September 15 to 25), mass social work and cleanliness drives at all the villages under Kohima and Tseminyu districts.
People came out in large numbers led by village councils, Water and Sanitation Committees (WATSAN), Field Testing Kit (FTK) users and Swachhagrahis to clean their water sources, landmark locations like school, Anganwadi Centres, Panchayat Hall, Community Sanitary Complexes etc and its surroundings. Tree plantation was also carried out in various locations.
In some villages, apart from plastic waste collection and disposal, school children were also involved in picking waste and garbage. Swachhatta Hi Seva campaign will culminate on October 2.
