Dimapur, February 28 (MExN): The National Domestic Workers Movement (NDWM) Nagaland Region commemorated the Hope Day at the Assisi Auditorium, Dimapur on February 27 with the theme, ‘Rebuilding Hope and Confidence.”
In her welcome address, Sr Pramila Coordinator NDWM Nagaland Region shared that the day is observed annually to “break the silence and voice out against gender disparity, gender inequality and choice between boy and girl.”
“It is a day to become voice to the voiceless, hope to the hopeless, love to the loveless and to light a candle of hope and confidence to all. It is also a day to make them visible part of the society,” she said.
The participation of children groups at the event was done with the objective of creating awareness on their rights and help them realise and identify the hidden potential, she added.
The resource person Adv Priya Shyam also expressed that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has shattered the hope and confidence of many.
This cannot be rebuilt by others, only but by individuals, she said.
The platform provided through NDWM Child Right Movement Nagaland Region through Assisi Centre For Integrated Development is very good place for the children to know their rights, to lobby with the government to implement the laws that are there for the safety and security of the children, she added.
A total of 220 children participated at the event along with their parents, according to the press release from NDWM, Nagaland Region.
