YI Nagaland with Sazolie College conduct career guidance

Kohima, April 15 (MExN): The Young Indians (YI) Nagaland Chapter in collaboration with Sazolie College, Phezhu, Jotsoma organised a career guidance programme under the topic ‘career choices after graduation’ for BA Semester VI students on April 14.

The resource persons were Imsong Meren, Faculty Core Institute, Kezieke Kohima; Nirmali, North East MRIIRS Faridabad; Rohan Abraham, Director, India Trail; Kendiliu R Buragohain, Northeast GNI Hyderabad. 

Lezo Putsure moderated the programme informed a press release from Media Cell, Sazolie College. 

The questions ranged from topics relating to higher education, competitive exams, and business opportunities and so on. 

On higher education options, Nirmali advised the students to take up professional courses in various universities after graduation which will focus on enhancing their skills and knowledge. She also gave a brief overview of the different subjects students can study. 

Kendiliu responding to the question on some challenges faced by North East students and individuals when they go to the main land India seeking further studies and job opportunities, stated that the vast cultural difference is one common challenge which results in students and individuals alike returning home. She urged the students to make room for adjustments and not let these small differences come in the way of fulfilling their dreams. 

When asked how many years an aspirant is expected to prepare for clearing a competitive exam, Imsong Meren expressed how one needs to imbibe qualities of patience, persistence and perseverance as these exams are like a marathon and hence, these qualities are crucial to clearing these exams.

Various questions were also raised by the students. On the issue of unemployment in the state, Rohan Abraham said that individuals can also seek job opportunities in the private sector as the scope of job opportunities in the private sector has increased and there is a great need for employees in various private fields. He also narrated about the challenges he faced when he initially started his own business and encouraged the students to work hard and be bold enough. 

The resource persons encouraged the students to work hard by saying that if they work hard, they will have an easy life, but if they choose an easy life now they will have a hard life later.

The programme was chaired by Imtijungshi, BA Semester VI, welcome address was given by Dr Kangzangding Thou, Principal, Sazolie College and vote of thanks was proposed by Sϋrhonülü, BA semester VI.
