Zeliangrong Youth Organisation (ZYO) responds to WSH/WSYF

Being the frontal tribal organization of the Western Sumis, every Naga expect Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) to stand tall and not stoop so low to become a laughing stock.  This kind of  statement is not expected from a person like L.K.Achumi who is a responsible person But time and again, WSH have come up with make-up stories to distort the truth about history and grab land, and that is why Zeliangrong Youth Organisation (ZYO) is compelled to once again give clarification for the interest of all Nagas.
The recent press statement of WSH regarding the derivative of the word ‘NTANGKI’ from British expeditionary named ‘TANKY’ is ‘funny’ and ‘below standard’. It is a well known and accepted fact that ‘NTANGKI’ is derive from two Zeme word ‘NTANG’ meaning ‘FULL/PLENTY/TIGHT’ and ‘KI’ meaning ‘PLACE/HOUSE’.  Thus, the literal meaning of NTANGKI is ‘PLACE OF PLENTY’ because of never ending source of fish and other aquatic life to sustain everyday need and varied flora and fauna. It is very sad that today some Naga brothers have gone to such an extent of trying to distort history with evil intention to establish village(s) at Ntangki National Park.
Again, it is to be clarified that the term KACHA NAGA is a derogative term from the word ‘KETSA’ which means ‘FOREST’ in Angami. When the British expeditionary found the Zeliangrong living beyond the forest, they called them ‘Ketsa Naga’ which later came to be more popular as ‘KACHA NAGA’.
The Zeliangrongs are peace loving people with highest spirit for peaceful co-existence with all Naga brothers. However, the Zeliangrongs are also fully against any encroachment or illegal settlement irrespective of any group/community/tribe at Ntangki National Park or for that matter any Zeliangrong land. It should be known that many of our Naga brothers are living/settled outside Nagaland but that doesn’t mean that they become outsiders since their blood is still Naga. A sumi living in Calcutta will still be a sumi and not a Bengali. Likewise a Zeliangrong will be a Zeliangrong whether in Assam, Manipur or Nagaland. A brother living in a brother’s land can never be called a refugee. A refugee is those landless people in search of a land to settle and if necessary encroach and invade others’ land. In fact The Western Sumis are such kind of people who are landless and are desperate to encroach upon other’s land. You find out for yourself who are the real refugees.
As a responsible organization let us avoid making derogatory statement and stick to the truth.
