Medziphema, November 3 (MExN): A three-day training programme on “Skill Enhancement Training on Value Addition of Mithun Meat and Local Resources for Livelihood Improvement” concluded at ICAR–NRC on Mithun, Medziphema on October 31.
The training aimed to equip participants with practical skills to enhance income generation from local resources, informed a press release.

The programme featured hands-on sessions on kiwi juice and wine preparation by Dr Aabon Yanthan; Mithun meat value addition by Dr Sunitibala Devi and Vivi; banana fibre product making by Atsole, and pickle preparation by Dr Ruth.

Participants also visited Konger Agritech, where Dr Sosang Longkumer, Director, demonstrated oyster and shiitake mushroom cultivation and explained the spawn production process.
At the valedictory function, Dr. T Esther Longkumer, CTO, KVK Phek, presented a report on the training, followed by participants’ feedback.

Dr. Girish Patil S, Director, ICAR–NRC on Mithun, highlighted the institute’s efforts in promoting value addition and skill development to improve farmers’ livelihoods.
Certificates were distributed to participants, and they were encouraged to adopt the demonstrated technologies. Dr. Phool Kumari, Sr Scientist & Head, KVK Dimapur, also addressed the participants.
